The following four hopper wagons were originally built for transporting coal. The underside of these hoppers have doors that would open to dispense coal into an under track hopper system. These were modified at Newbridge to restrict the opening of the doors to allow a steady unloading of track ballast onto track renewal sites on the NYMR.

The following five hoppers have been purchased recently to replace the old four coal hoppers. These are undergoing full overhaul. As these were designed for deployment of ballast, these will increase ballast delivery capacity with better control and also the ability to dispense ballast to the sleeper ends on the NYMR.
